Bench of the Week - in a sylvan glade

This week's bench is situated in a sylvan glade of almost ethereal beauty. Coming round the edge of the surrounding trees the beholder is entranced by the light, the jewel-like greens and the delicacy of the acers set among tall dark conifers.

Your feet brush softly through the daisy-rich grass as you head for the bench set back among the trees. Hush! Do not disturb the tranquillity, make no sudden sound against the background hum of bees.

Your seat is comfortable. It's high back beckons you to rest, to lean back - maybe to sleep among the trees in this secret place. Sweet slumber ...

(The sylvan glade is at Thorp Perrow Arboretum, North Yorkshire. Situated near Bedale, it is a very favourite place of mine, to wander long among the trees imbibing the atmosphere and enchantment.)

'Bench of the Week' was started by RuneE of Visual Norway. Other participants include Barbara Martin, PERBS, Malyss, and Ackworth Born - do visit their blogs to see their Bench of the Week on Fridays! This week we also have a new participant, Monica the Garden Faerie!

I can hear the buzz of the bees, the stir of the wind through the leaves and the warm sun bathing me into a doze. Wonderful location.

My bench is up a bit earlier than normal to keep up with those across the pond.

Looks like a gorgeous bench in a beautiful area. I could see myself sitting there for a spell. Please drop by and see my bench --it was not posted when you dropped by and I would love to have you see it too.

You have described it very well - it gave an ethereal feeling. A place to reflect on all things green.

PS Thank you for the comment and the further link that I don't think I have.

The place is soooo beautyful and peaceful!
To sit there with a good book, among birds and bees, what a dream...

Thanks for linking to me. One day, I might be organized enough to have a posting solely on benches, and on the correct day, even! I love the twisted form of the tree in the foreground, too.

I just noticed the cactus murals in your sidebar. Are you painting those? They look so realistic and fit right into the setting. It's so awesome you can draw/paint! (They're paying you, right?!)

It does have a wonderful green-ness, RuneE! And in the Autumn, magnificent shades of orange and gold in the various Acers.

And a bar of chocolate too, Malyss, to complete the paradise!

I look forward to your bench posts, Monica!

Thanks for the compliment about my cactus mural! The photos are of the one I did for the Botanic Garden in Durham earlier this year. Yes, they did pay me!!

It is indeed, EG Tour Guide. The Arboretum as a whole is very refreshing and inspiring.

There are a lot of different greens there, Diane - and they all kind of resonate, giving different feelings in the various parts of the glade.

It is a great place to commune with nature, Prospero - being so vast, there are always parts of the Arboretum where one can find solitude.

Phoenix C. said...

It is, Rob - one could sit there all day!
